This project aims to be a Creative Commons Licensed body of knowledge about game design and development.
As well as being a source of knowledge this project aims to be a learning experience for everyone involved too, by gathering contributions from the community, teaching others how to make a game, explaining algorithms but also learning tips and tricks from people who are more experienced.
The book consists of lecture notes which are designed to help students to learn fundamental principles that apply to game programming regardless of the language they use to create the game. These principles include gathering input from users, processing game data, and rendering game objects to the screen.
It is a detailed overview of many of the important algorithms and techniques used in video game programming today. Designed for programmers who are familiar with object-oriented programming and basic data structures, this book focuses on practical concepts that see actual use in the game industry.
